Georgetown Baseball Game Versus UMBC Cancelled

March 5, 2003

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today's men's baseball game at UMBC has been cancelled due to inclement weather conditions.

Georgetown travels to Rollins College in Orlando for the 56th annual Rollins Baseball Week.  The Hoyas open on Thursday, March 7th against the host Tars.  Georgetown will also compete against the University of Evansville and the University of Toledo over the spring break. The winner of the tournament receives the Jack McDowall Trophy, named in honor of the former Rollins athletic director who also coached football and basketball for 29 years.

The Hoyas are 1-2 on the season and currently lead the BIG EAST in batting average and on base percent.  Despite playing only three games, catcher Michael Lombardi (Brookhaven Hamlet, N.Y./St. Anthony's) leads the conference in doubles and runs scored per game.
