Loyola vs. Georgetown
April 12, 2003
1 p.m.
Harbin Field
Washington, D.C.

The Skinny
The Georgetown - Loyola series had been a one-sided affair until last season?s 15-6 victory by the Hoyas. Prior to that victory the Greyhounds had defeated Georgetown 20 straight times, including six consecutive during Coach Urick?s tenure. The 2003 matchup pits a 7-0 GU team against a 5-3 Loyola squad that has lost its last two games to Syracuse and Towson. This game could be determined at the "X" as Georgetown and Loyola boast two of the best face-off men in the country. LC?s Ryan Randonis (.698 face-off win %) is tops in the land while GU?s Andy Corno (.637 face-off win %) holds down the eighth spot nationally.

Georgetown?s offense broke out of a mini-slump last weekend, eclipsing double digits for the first time in two games by defeating Brown 12-11. Walid Hajj netted four goals for the second time this season and he leads the Hoyas with 12 goals on the year. Even with the Georgetown defense giving up a season high 11 goals at Brown this group of defenders still ranks as the tops all time at Georgetown in goals allowed per game (6.6 gpg).

Loyola comes to D.C. on a two-game slide. The Greyhounds have been on-again off-again offensively scoring a season high 16 goals in a win over Brown and a season low four goals at Duke. LC averages 9.3 goals a game and gives up an average of 8.9 to their opponent.
