PHILADELPHIA, PA. --The Georgetown men's golf team had its best finish of the fall season placing fourth at the BIG 5/Penn Classic held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. The Hoyas combined for a +44, 612; nine strokes away from third place Penn State. Winning the 13-team event was Princeton with a 589 followed by William & Mary with a 599.
Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./ Central High School) had his first top 10 finish of the fall season posting a combined 150 (76-74) and tying for sixth overall. Also having a top 15 showing was freshman John Jamgochian (Greenwich, Conn./The Brunswick School), who shot a 151 (74-77) and placed in a tie for 11th. David Erickson (Edina, Minn./The Blake School) tied for 26th overall with a 155 (74-81), Tim Moynihan (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Franklin Regional) shot a 157 (74-83) good for a tie at 37th and Bob Molina (Skokie, Ill./ Loyola Academy) closed out the Hoya scoring with a 159 (75-84) placing in a tie at 45th.
Georgetown hosts the annual Georgetown Hoya Invitational this weekend in Leesburg, Va. at Lansdowne Resort. First round play begins on Sunday, October 24 and ends on Monday, October 25.
