WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Georgetown University football student-athlete Michael Ononibaku (Amherst, Mass./Amherst) was selected as the Patriot League?s Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Lafayette on September 11.
Ononibaku picks up his first career PL Defensive Player of the Week honor after contributing 12 total stops, including a career-best three sacks, in Saturday's 17-6 PL setback vs. Lafayette. Ononibaku was in the Lafayette backfield as much as any Leopard, recording five tackles for losses and forcing a fumble. It was a career-best performance for the 2003 second-team All-Patriot League pick, and he is among the NCAA leaders in sacks (5) and TFLs (7) this season. Ononibaku also leads the Hoyas in tackles with 17, including a team high 11 solo stops.
The Hoyas go to Pittsburgh, Pa. this Saturday, September 18, for a meeting with Duquesne at 1:30 p.m.
