The Skinny
Georgetown and Duquesne go at it for the first time since 2001. The programs were former rivals in the MAAC conference and faced each other every season between 1994-2001. GU owns a slim lead in the all-time series 9-7-1 and has won three of the last five meetings. The Hoyas won the 2001 meeting off a blocked extra point attempt, which GU returned for two points after Duquesne had tied the game with less than four minutes remaining. The last time the Hoyas made the trip to Pittsburgh the Dukes ripped off a 44-20 victory.

After a season opening 36-7 win over St. Francis (Pa.) when the Hoyas racked up 347 yards of offense GU fell to Lafayette in week two 17-6 and only managed 132 yards of offense. The Blue and Gray defense remained consistent in both contests, led by All-League candidates Michael Ononibaku, Maurice Banks and Brandon Small the Hoyas held SFU to 198 total yards and LC to 279. On the year the defense has caused seven turnovers that includes four interceptions and three fumble recoveries and the offense has only handed over the ball once off an interception versus LC.

A splendid 31-7 win at Holy Cross in week one for Duquesne vaulted the Dukes into the #1 ranking for mid-major Division I-AA programs. But last week against Robert Morris the Dukes got into a 17-0 hole and could not climb out losing 34-14. Senior quarterback Niel Loebig who owns a 28-8 record as a starter leads Duquesne.

You Should Know...
Defensive end Michael Ononibaku is making noise in the Patriot League and Georgetown record books. His 15 career sacks already ranks 21st in the League?s book and ties him for sixth in the Hoya annals.
