The Skinny
Two old time football-playing institutions tee it up today with Georgetown starting its football tradition in 1887 and Colgate holding its inaugural season in 1890. With over 114 years of history it would seem that the Hoyas and Raiders would have met more than twice but today will be just the third showdown in the rivalry. Last season the teams opened the year against each other and GU held a 19-14 lead late into the fourth quarter before Colgate hit on a half back option pass with six seconds to play giving the Raiders a 20-19 victory. In the first meeting ever between GU and CU in 2002 the Raiders won a hard fought affair, 44-22.

Georgetown ran into a buzz saw last weekend losing 45-7 at Duquesne. The Hoyas gave up eight turnovers and allowed 410 offensive yards. Two bright spots were tailback Kim Sarin and defensive end Michael Ononibaku. Sarin ripped off his second 100-yard game of the season with 102 on 19 carries and scored GU?s only TD. Ononibaku had his third straight multiple sack game hauling down Duquesne?s qb twice and ending the day with three TFLs and seven total tackles.

After making a run to the national championship game last season Colgate opened this year with a 30-20 loss at UMass before logging a 17-15 win last weekend at home against Dartmouth. The Raiders are riding a 13-game in league winning streak and have won 13 straight at Andy Kerr Stadium. Leading Colgate once again is star running back Jamaal Branch, the 2003 Walter Payton Award winner. The ?Gate has not allowed a sack yet this season.

You Should Know...
Tailback Kim Sarin is the Patriot League?s second leading rusher, averaging 111.3 yards per game. He ranks 20th nationally and is averaging 5.0 yards per carry. Sarin is close to surpassing his career totals in yards (334-365 career) and carries (67-77 career).
