The Skinny
Georgetown and Bucknell tee it up with a league win on the line. Georgetown is 0-2 in Patriot League games this season while Bucknell has not faced an in-league foe yet. Bucknell brings its spread offense to D.C. for the first time under second year head coach Tim Landis. In last season?s meeting in Lewisburg, Pa. the Hoyas fell prey to the Bison, 45-16. What most Hoya faithful remember about this series was GU?s 32-31 come from behind victory in 2002. It marked the first Patriot League victory in Georgetown?s history and was one of the most exciting comebacks ever on the Hilltop. The overall series between the two institutions is relatively even with BU owning a slight 8-7-1 advantage.
Georgetown traveled to defending league champion Colgate last weekend and fell 33-0 extending the Raiders league game-winning streak to 14. The Hoyas are on a three game slide and have been outscored 95-13 in those games. The passing game has yet to get on track but the rushing offense is producing 130.8 yards a contest, led by junior Kim Sarin along with junior Marcus Slayton and freshman Emir Davis. On defense Michael Ononibaku continues to shine with his league leading 11.5 TFLs.
Bucknell notched its 17th straight non-conference home victory last weekend in a 42-13 win over Columbia. The Bison racked up 520 yards of total offense. BU is on a two-game winning streak after barely falling in their opener, 20-14, at Villanova. Quarterback Daris Wilson is the Bison?s spark plug, leading the team in rushing and passing.
You Should Know...
Georgetown?s special teams units have been bright spots thus far in 2004. The punt return unit is averaging 11.5 per return and the coverage unit is only allowing 4.7 per runback. The field goal and extra point squads are also succeeding connecting on 7-of-8 field goals and all four PATs.
