The Scoop
Georgetown opens its away portion of the conference schedule today at Seton Hall. It will be GU's first BIG EAST away affair under new Head Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy. The Hoyas are currently in the midst of a two-game slide losing at Clemson and to #13 B.C. in Wednesday night's BIG EAST opener. Seton Hall has won seven of its last eight bouncing back this week with a win over West Virginia after falling at #6 Notre Dame. The Pirates are ahead in the all-time series with Georgetown 25-18 and have won 12-of-18 at home against the Hoyas.

Injuries emerged just before the Holidays for the Hoyas and BIG EAST play has begun with GU's lineup not fully loaded. Senior Mary Lisicky who had not missed a game in her previous three seasons has already missed two this year and has a lingering injury that is a game-by-game decision. Combine the loss of Lisicky with Kieraah Marlow, Amber Dorsey, Jamie Mundy and Sarah Jenkins all battling nagging injuries and the bench is short for Coach Flournoy. What the Hoyas have proven with the injuries is that other players can step us as sophomore Kate Carlin exploded for a career high 19 points at Clemson and is averaging close to 10 points a game the past four contests. Also freshman Kristin Heidloff has seen significant minutes the past four games playing an average of 26 minutes, hitting the game changing three in GU's win over Kent State and scoring seven points, handing out seven assists and making four steals at Clemson.

Leading Seton Hall thus far have been Ashley Bush, Monique Blake and Heta Korpivaara who are all averaging double-digits this season. Bush and Blake are also SHU's top rebounders and have helped the Pirates outrebound their opponents by over seven boards a contest.
