Williamsburg, VA - Georgetown's Allison Chambers, Lauryn Bernier, and Coco Stanwick led a balanced offensive attack with three goals apiece and the third-ranked Hoyas used a 10-1 scoring run to start the game and suffocating defense throughout to defeat William and Mary, 15-7, Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Busch Field.

The Hoyas improve to 4-0 on the year, while the loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the Tribe and drops its overall ledger to 2-3.

It didn't long for the Hoyas to strike, as Bernier found the net on a feed from Chambers at the 27:25 mark. Less than a minute later, the Hoyas' lead was two on an unassisted goal from Chambers (24:24). Georgetown took advantage of two more costly Tribe turnovers, eventually scoring off each of the giveaways, and gained a 4-0 lead on a tally by Catherine Elbe with 20:59 remaining in the opening period.

Georgetown continued to pressure off the ensuing draw, but a save from freshman Tribe goaltender Amanda Roth kept the deficit at four. After a ground ball pick up by Roth gave W&M possession, the Tribe cleared and ultimately broke through with its first goal of the game, as Dalon hit a cutting Morgan Lang at the 19:16 mark to trim the Hoyas' lead to 4-1.

For the next six minutes, the scoreboard was silent, but Georgetown controlled much of the action on the benefit of five more of the Tribe's 11 first-half turnovers. The turnovers finally caught up though, as Coco Stanwick netted the first of her three goals at the 13:30 mark to make it 5-1. It quickly went downhill from there, as the Hoyas reeled off five more goals, two from Hollis Pica and Chambers' second, to take a commanding 10-1 lead with just under 10 minutes to go in the first.

The Hoyas unrelenting pressure continued, but Tribe junior La Nolan fired a shot into the top-right shelf off a feed from senior Becca Hall to make it 10-2. After the second of two first-half caused turnovers by Wong, the Tribe began to chip away, as Dalon scored an unassisted goal at the 3:30 mark, before Fitzgerald converted a free-position attempt into the College's fourth goal, trimming the margin to 10-4 with 2:13 to go.

Chambers', however, squashed whatever momentum the Tribe had built, scoring her third goal of the half with 27 seconds remaining to send Georgetown into the break with an 11-4 advantage.

The Hoyas came out in the second half with a much more deliberate attack, scoring three times over the first 13 minutes, while the Tribe couldn't solve Robinson or the Georgetown defense, putting W&M back at a 10-goal disadvantage, 14-4, a deficit it wouldn't be able to surmount on this afternoon. Robinson made three stops during the span, before Dalon eventually found the net on a free-position attempt with 10:19 remaining to make it 14-5.

William and Mary's sophomore Emily Vitrano scored in her fourth consecutive game at the 4:22 mark on an assist from Lang to make it 14-6, and after a Hoyas' goal from Elbe, Tribe's Dalon set the final margin with her third tally of the contest on a feed from Watkins with 1:19 left on the clock.

The Hoyas will next host fourth ranked Duke on Saturday, March 18 at 1 pm on North Kehoe field.
