WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Georgetown University baseball team (4-5) lost to Central Michigan 6-5 in the bottom of the 10th on Sunday, March 6, in Bradenton, Florida.
Despite Central Michigan scoring two runs in the top of the first, the Hoyas tied it up in the top of the second off a hit by sophomore Brandon Davis who drove in Ryan Craft and Matt Johnson. Central Michigan regained the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the second where Peel scored.
The score remained 3-2 until the top of the fifth where junior Ryan Craft drove in Parker Brooks and Timmy Jones to take over the lead 4-3. CMU tied it up in the bottom of the sixth to make it 4-4. Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the eighth where CMU took the lead 5-4 off an unearned run by Cannon.
The Hoyas responded, with senior catcher Andrew Cleary driving in Matthew Bouchard in the top of the ninth to tie it up 5-5. Georgetown's defense prevailed in the bottom of the ninth, yet CMU scored in the bottom of the 10th to claim victory 6-5.
The Hoyas will face Holy Cross on Monday, March 7, at 3:00 p.m. in Bradenton, Florida.
