Baseball Defeats Boston College 7-2

April 25, 2005

Box Score

Chestnut Hill, MA--Georgetown scored three runs in the top of the first and never relinquished the lead as Boston College dropped the final game of its three-game series with the Hoyas on Monday, 7-2. The Eagles claimed the 2-1 edge in the series over the Hoyas.

The Hoyas (21-21, 5-11) collected four hits in the opening frame, including an RBI single from designated hitter Andrew Cleary and a two-run double from left fielder Drew Dargen.

Georgetown scratched a run in the fourth and scored another in the fifth to take a commanding 5-0 lead.

The Eagles (26-14, 11-5) scored their first run in the bottom of the seventh. Catcher Shawn McGill led off with a single to right and advanced to second after shortstop Marco Albano also singled to right. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and after Mike Flynn grounded out to the pitcher, McGill scored on Pete Frates' RBI groundout to shortstop.

BC scored its second run the next inning when sophomore third baseman Jared Mcguire grounded out to shortstop to knock in Ryan Hutchinson.

Georgetown starter Tom Braun tossed eight innings of five-hit ball to stymie the BC offense. Braun struck out six while allowing just two earned runs. Junior lefthander Nate Jeanes (2-4) surrendered four runs in 4.2 innings to take the loss for Boston College.

The Hoyas return to action on Tuesday, April 25 at 7:00 pm where they host George Mason.
