WASHINGTON, DC--Nine Hoya baseball players will be participating in collegiate leagues over the 2005 summer. Rising seniors Ryan Craft, Timmy Jones, and Matt Johnson, rising juniors Brandon Davis and Mark McLaughlin, and rising sophomores Matthew Bouchard, Michael Gaggioli, Matt Harrigan, and Matthew Maranges will all be continuing their baseball at respective collegiate baseball teams. Ryan Craft, the designated hitter, will be playing for the North Adams Steeplecats, a member of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. In the 2005 season, Craft was named All-BIG EAST First Team, as well as being named to ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America District II Baseball team. He led Georgetown in homeruns with 13, RBI with 48, and total bases at 116. Craft was second on the squad in hits (65) and runs (39) as well as ranking second in the BIG EAST for homeruns. Matt Johnson, the shortstop for the Hoyas, will be playing for the Mat-Su Miners of the Alaska Baseball League. The Mat-Su Miners were coached by Georgetown Head Coach Pete Wilk in 1998 and 1999. Timmy Jones, the centerfielder for the Hoyas, will be playing for the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plain Baseball League. Jones started all 55 games he played in, and lead the Hoyas in runs scored with 41. He tied for the lead in stolen bases, going 10-11. Brandon Davis, the catcher, will be playing for Salinas Packers of the California Baseball League. Davis batted .288 and started 33 of the 38 games played. He also added 30 hits, 12 runs, and 11 RBI. Follow Davis this summer at the Official Salinas Packers Website
Joe Graziano, a third baseman for the Hoyas, will be playing for the Orlando Shockers of the Florida Collegiate League. Graziano tallied 26 hits, 12 runs, and 9 RBI. Mark McLaughlin, the left fielder for the Hoyas, will be playing for the Coppell Copperheads of the Texas Collegiate League. McLaughlin added 34 runs, 50 hits, and 30 RBI in the 2005 season, as well as tallying four homeruns. McLaughlin tied for the lead in stolen bases, going 10 for 15. Matthew Bouchard, an infielder, will be playing for the Plattsburgh Thunder of the New York Collegiate League. Bouchard saw action in 37 games while starting 23. Michael Gaggioli, a starting pitcher for the Hoyas, will be playing for the Vermont Mountaineers of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Gaggioli posted a 3.42 ERA in 84 innings pitched. Matthew Maranges, an infielder, will be playing for the Plattsburgh Thunder of the New York Collegiate League with teammates Matthew Bouchard and Matthew Harrigan.
