Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University senior football player Brad Scoffern (Oakland, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) was named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Scoffern helped the Hoyas to a 10-7 road win at Stony Brook on Saturday, evening the team's record at 2-2 overall. He was one of four student-athletes honored by the league. Lehigh senior running back Eric Rath earned offensive honors, Lehigh defensive back Julian Austin took home defensive honors and Lafayette wide receiver Shaun Adair was named the league's rookie of the week.

On Saturday, Scoffern played a key role in Georgetown's come-from-behind win. He handled both punting and kicking duties for the team, punting eight times for an average of 38.4 yards. He put three of his second half punts inside the 20-yard line. Scoffern was also good on a 19-yard field goal and added an extra point on the decisive touchdown.

Overall this season, Scoffern has punted 15 times for a 34.7 average. He has kicked a pair of field goals as well, accounting for seven points through three games.

In two years on the Hilltop, Scoffern ranks sixth all-time in punting average at 35.8 per kick. A transfer from St. Mary's (Calif.), Scoffern started most of the 2004 season, punting 61 times for 2,202 yards. He kicked 12 balls inside the 20 and averaged 36.1 yards per punt.
