Hoya Women's Lacrosse Announces Class of 2011

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University head women's lacrosse coach Ricky Fried announced that 11 student-athletes have signed on to join the Hoya program in the Fall of 2007.

"We graduate 10 seniors after the 2007 season, so we're thrilled to have 11 newcomers make their way to Georgetown," Fried said. "The incoming class is large in quantity but they all come from winning programs and they have a weath of talent and we're looking forward to seeing them on the field. Each and every one of them is a multi-sport athlete so we're looking forward to increasing our team's athletic ability."

Mary Beth Brophy (Berwyn, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) has earned 11 varsity letters in her first three prep seasons, playing lacrosse, soccer, swimming and basketball. Brophy helped lead her high school lacrosse team to the Philadelphia Catholic League Championship in 2006 and was named All-American First Team, Team MVP, Delaware County Player of the Year and All Main-Line. Brophy netted 58 goals in 24 games as a junior to go along with 20 assists and 45 ground balls. Brophy has been apart of three straight Philadelphia Catholic League Championship team. Brophy is on the 2007 Inside Lacrosse "Top Players" list.

Catie Caputo (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) is a lacrosse and cross country standout for coaches Kathy Taylor (lacrosse) and Bill Aris (cross country, indoor track). The midfielder was named All-League Second Team in 2006 helping her lacrosse team to the State Championship Game appearance. In 2005, Caputo played a major role in helping the team to the State title and a Section 3 Championship. In cross country, Caputo helped her high school team to the 2006 Nike Team National Championship in Oregon. Caputo will be the fourth member of the family to attend Georgetown after her grandfather, Ronald '58, father Ronald, '84 and uncle Robert, '88 all spent their collegiate days on the Hilltop.

Kathleen Dwyer (Winnetka, Ill./Loyola Acad. (Ill.)) is a three-sport athlete playing volleyball, basketball and lacrosse in the spring. In three seasons at Loyola Academy, Dwyer compiled 181 goals, 203 assists and 384 points and was named 2006 IHSWLA Player of the Year, Pioneer Press Player of the Year, U.S. Lacrosse All-American First team and All-State First Team. Her 78 assists in her junior season set a new school and state record which helped the team to a state championship with a 20-7-1 overall record. Dwyer follows her grandfather, Jack, '40, father, John, '71, brother, Brian, '99 and sisters Bridget, 2002 and Nora 2004, both women's lacrosse letterwinners, to Georgetown.

Jacqueline Giles (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) is a an attacker that has compiled 123 goals and 30 assists in three seasons for coach Brooke Kuhl at Mt. Hebron, whose team has won 98 straight games. Giles has been a part of three consecutive National Championships, State Championships and Country Championships. Following her junior season in 2006, Giles was named All-County First Team, First Team All-Met, All-America Honorable Mention and earned a spot on the Mid Atlantic Team 1. Giles is on the 2007 Inside Lacrosse "Top Players" list. Giles also earned All-County honors on 2004, 2005 and 2006 as a midfielder for Mt. Hebron's soccer team.

Allie Hubschmann (Short Hill, N.J./Oak Knoll) plays attack at Oak Knoll School for coach Elizabeth Brodbeck. Hubschmann has earned All-State First and Second Team honors to go along with All-American honors on the lacrosse field while helping the team to a Conference and Prep Championships. She ripped off 84 goals in her sophomore year on the lacrosse field and she is on the 2007 Inside Lacrosse "Top Players" list. In the Fall of 2006 on the Hubschmann garnered All-Union County and All-Conference First Team honors while helping Oak Knoll to a field hockey State Championship. Hubschmann will join her older sister Coutney on the Georgetown women's lacrosse team and follows her brothers Otakar and Andrew to the Hilltop.

Jordyn Kirr (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) is an attacker that has averaged more than 20 goals and more than 33 points in her first three prep seasons. Kirr is a two-time All-Baltimore City selection and in 2006, as a junior, was named to the Mid-Atlantic National Team and to the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List after scoring 24 goals to go along with 16 assists. Kirr is on the 2007 Inside Lacrosse "Top Players" list. In August of 2007, Kirr will represent the United States in the IFWLA U-19 Women's Lacrosse World Championships in Ontario, Canada

Logan McCraw (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) is a lacrosse midfielder and a basketball point guard at Conestoga H.S. McCraw is a two-time All-Central League First Teamer and a two-time Upper Atlantic National Team member. McCraw's high school team has won three straight State Championships. McCraw is on the 2007 Inside Lacrosse "Top Players" list.

Lauren Thomas (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) is a lacrosse goalie and tennis player for coaches Kathy Jenkins and Pete Adeson. Thomas was ranked in Inside Lacrosse magazine's Top 50 and was named All-Met as a junior helping the team to a number three national ranking. Thomas has also garnered All-ISL as a junior in 2006 and has been between the pipes for two straight ISL Championships and a combined 50-2 two-season record. Thomas is on the 2007 Inside Lacrosse "Top Players" list.

Maggie Trautman (Mystic, Conn./Loomis Chaffee) is a lacrosse and soccer player for coaches Lisa Parsons and Bob Lathrop. An attacking midfielder, Trautman has been a major cog for a Loomis Chaffee team that has won consecutive Western New England Prep School Championships and consecutive Founders League Championships. Trautman's Loomis Chaffee soccer team won consecutive New England Class A Prep titles and consecutive Founders League titles. Trautman will join her older sister, Jordan, in the Hoya program.

Mary Wittelsberger (Parkton, Md./Hereford) is an attacking midfielder that has recorded 78 goals and 44 assists in three prep seasons on the lacrosse field. Wittelsberger was named to the Mid-Atlantic Lacrosse Team 4 in 2004 and 2005 and was named All-County First Team in 2004 after leading the team in scoring. Wittelsberger is also an accomplished field hockey player and is a two-time All-Baltimore County First Teamer, helping the Hereford team to the 2006 State title.

Jenny Wolock (Baltimore, Md./Roland Park Country) is a soccer midfielder and lacrosse defender that has earned All-County Second Team accolades in 2006 as well as being named Towson Times Honorable Mention in 2005 and 2006. Wolock also earned a spot on the 2005 Mid-Atlantic Team.
