Hoyas Ousted 67-50 at Villanova

Villanova, Pa. - Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa./Coatsville) scored a game-high 22 points and led the Hoyas in scoring for the 13th time this season but GU dropped a 67-50 BIG EAST contest at Villanova Saturday afternoon inside The Pavilion. Georgetown falls to 10-16, 3-12 in the league.

Georgetown was plagued by 29 percent shooting for the game while Villanova knocked down 48 percent of their shots from the floor including 11-25 from behind the three-point line. The Wildcats had three players score 12 points.

Sophomore Kristin Heidloff (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick), who came into the game ranked 13th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (+ 2.3), finished the game with six assists to go along with seven points and seven rebounds.

Senior Bethany LeSueur (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City, N.Y) and junior Kate Carlin (Ambler, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph's) each finished with identical lines, nine points, three rebounds and two assists

The Hoyas cut their deficit to 14 points, 43-29 on a Kristin Heidloff jumper from near the top of the key with 12:05 to go but the Wildcats immediately answered with a trey by Jackie Adamshick with 11:31 to go andGeorgetown would not get closer than 15 points for the remainder of the game.

Villanova took an 18-13 advantage through the first eight minutes. The Wildcats made six of their first ten shots from the floor, including three three-pointers by Courtney Roantree, while GU committed five turnovers in the stretch. Marlow had ten of the team's first 13 points.

The Hoyas were able to convert on two field goals over the final 12 minutes of the opening period while Villanova went on a 16-3 run to take a 34-18 lead at intermission.

Georgetown made six shots from the floor in the first half opposite Villanova's 46 percent field goal shooting, including 6-15 from long range.

Georgetown will conclude the 2005-06 season on Tuesday, February 28 when the Hoyas host the University of South Florida in a BIG EAST tilt that tips at 7:30 p.m. The GU Athletics Department will recognize the three Hoya seniors, Bethany LeSueur, Leslie Tyburski and Christine Whitt, who will be playing their final game at McDonough Arena.
