I could blog for days about the past weekend (more photos will follow later this week). It was one of the more enjoyable few days I ever spent celebrating in Hoya-land. On Friday evening, there were separate gatherings for the individual Hall of Fame inductees. Saturday brought a nice victory in McDonough by the women's hoops team against the Seton Hall Pirates, even as, over at Leavey Center, the Alumni Board of Governors listened to a panel discussion by Athletic Department coaches, student-athletes, and AD. In the evening, the Hall of Fame dinner maintained its reputation as one of Georgetown's most classy and feel-good events of the year. How can it get much better than all this? Here's how: on Sunday, the Hoya men went out and toppled the ninth-ranked team in the nation at MCI Center. Hoya hoya saxa!

What a delightful surprise it was, following our roller-coaster of a game against Pitt last Sunday, to walk outside of MCI Center into the bright sunshine, and find myself in the midst of Chinatown's new year's parade. Marching at the head of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association was DC Councilman Jack Evans, who recently called for the resumption of the Georgetown-GW basketball series. Both schools as well as the MCI Center are located in his ward. Why wasn't he inside watching the Hoyas play?

My picks for most interesting contests this coming week:

> Men's Basketball: The Hoyas' quest for best continues. The #15-ranked Hoyas (16-4) host the #9-ranked West Virginia Mountaineers (17-4) in an unusual Sunday evening contest at MCI Arena at 7:00 pm.

> Women's Basketball: Coming off a healthy turn-around victory against Seton Hall, the striving Hoyas (9-12) will battle to break their current conference tie with the Syracuse Orange (9-12) at 7:00 pm in Carrier Dome.

> Women's Tennis: I like to beat our local rivals. After visiting the Seton Hall Pirates in South Orange, NJ next Saturday, the Hoya women's netters (1-4) will host the Colonials of George Washington (1-1) at 11 am on Sunday at the Army-Navy Country Club.

> Baseball: Getting a jump even on the Bigs' spring training, the Hoyas (0-0), in a season opening two-game series, travel to Williamsburg to face the Tribe of William & Mary (0-0) on Saturday (noon) and Sunday (1:00 pm) at Plumeri Park.

Last week, the Hoya athletic teams posted an overall win-loss record of 4-4. Men's and women's indoor track had multiple top collegiate finishes and qualifying times.
