Paolisso Takes ECAC's Offensive Player of the Week Award

March 13, 2006

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown senior middie Dave Paolisso (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) has been named the ECAC's Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Georgetown's matchup with the Syracuse Orange at the Carrier Dome last Friday. The Hoyas, ranked 10th in the country, claimed a 10-8 victory over the seventh-ranked Orange.

The honor is the first for Paolisso and comes after a career performance. Paolisso scored three goals in the game on only four shots, while also contributing two ground balls. His three-goal outing puts his season total at five, good enough to lead the Hoya squad and his five total points on the year is second only to Brendan Cannon's 10.

Paolisso's hat trick is the first of his career and the three goals ties his total from the previous three years. Also, the performance helped guide the Hoyas past their non-conference rival and marks the first time Georgetown has beaten Syracuse in the Carrier Dome. The Hoyas are now 4-11 all-time against the Orange.

The honor for Paolisso marks the first time a Hoya has received the award since Nick Miaritis took the honor on April 4 of last year. It also marks the second straight week a Hoya has earned a weekly league award. Thanks to the big win and Paolisso's exploits, the Hoyas have moved up to No. 8 in this week's Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.

The Hoyas look to continue their winning ways at home this Wednesday against the ninth-ranked Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens. The game is at 3:30 p.m. on the Multi-Sport Field and can be watched on Hoyavision at GUHoyas.com.
