Zoch reached first on a fielder's choice as Calabrese scored the third run of the inning. A fly out from sophomore Brittany Sonnichsen (Madison, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) would end the game with the Hoyas falling just short, 9-7, to the Eagles.
"For the first five innings of the first game and the last two of the second game we played the best ball of the season," Head Coach Pat Conlan said. "We made some great plays, had excellent pitching , executed our offensive offensive gameplan and came up with some clutch hits. However we need to do that for a complete game. This team has made tremendous strides this year, but we are still working on consistency! All losses are tough but especially this one. We were in control for the entire game and let the game slip away from us. We executed well on offense today. Kat Lang is a great tablesetter for us. She gets on base and both Christine Calabrese and Cathy Richter were able to come thru with some clutch hits today."
The Hoyas return to action on Tuesday, April 4 when they travel to Baltimore, Md. for a doubleheader against UMBC. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
