Georgetown Baseball Drops Series Opener at Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Pittsburgh junior righty Billy Muldowney struck out a career-best 13 over eight innings to lead the Panthers to a 14-0 win over Georgetown at Trees Field on Thursday night. Georgetown falls to 23-31, 9-16 in the BIG EAST and the Hoyas will need to win the final two games of the series and have USF lose one of two games at West Virginia to earn a berth in the BIG EAST Tournament.

The Panthers (22-28, 9-16 BIG EAST) had 18 hits and scored at least three runs in the second, third and fifth innings to take a 10-0 lead through five innings.

Ryan Craft (Jupiter, Fla./The Benjamin School) and Drew Dargen (Edmund, Okla./Edmund North) each had hits for GU.

The Hoyas had only one runner advance to third base and Georgetown left eight runners on base.

All nine Panther starters recorded at least one hit.

Georgetown and Pittsburgh play game two of the series on Friday at noon.
