Field Hockey Drops a 2-1 Decision at Longwood

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown field hockey team lost at Longwood today, 2-1, ending a two-game losing streak for the Lancers. The Hoyas fall to 2-4 on the season and enter BIG EAST Conference action this Wednesday.

Freshman forward Willemijn Wijsman (Hilversum, The Netherlands/International School Hilversum) scored the lone goal for GU from a penalty corner at the 62:25 mark.

With the 1-0 lead, the Lancers (2-4) scored their second goal when Katie Claxton capitalized on a double assist from Julia Hernandez and Carra Bunner.

Sophomore goalkeeper Deirdre Crovo (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) allowed to Lancer goals while posting six saves on the day. This was Crovo's first loss of the season.

The Hoyas open up BIG EAST Conference play on Wednesday, September 20 when they host undefeated Providence on Kehoe Field at 3 p.m.
