Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University field hockey team lost 9-0 to BIG EAST Conference opponent today at Trager Field in Louisville, Ky. The Hoyas are now 2-14 with a 0-5 slate in BIG EAST play. The 13th-ranked Louisville squad is now 13-5 with a 5-1 mark in conference play.
The Hoyas were unable to find the back of the cage today despite taking four shots, two on goal. Sophomore Alirce Murnen (Princeton, N.J./Stuart Country Day) and junior Katie Lachman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) each tallied a shot on goal but U of L goalkeepers Marie-Claire Heller and Heather Bustanoby both recorded one save apiece.
Junior goalkeeper Deirdre Crovo (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) tallied six saves and allowed seven goals before she was relieved at the 46:05 mark. Freshman Brigid Bower (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) allowed two goals while posting five saves in 23:55.
The Hoyas return to action on Friday, October 26 when they welcome BIG EAST Conference opponent Rutgers to the University of Maryland Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex for the final regular season game of the year. The Blue and Gray celebrate Senior Day as they honor the accomplishments of seniors Deirdre McShea (Strafford, Pa./Villa Maria Academy), Lauren Sheets (Lutherville, Md./Garrison Forest) and Kristin Twomey (Larchmont, N.Y./School of the Holy Child).
