Georgetown Cruises to 89-43 Win at Fordham, Wins Fifth Straight

Bronx, N.Y. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team raced out to a16-0 lead six-plus minutes into the contest and never looked back in an easy 89-43 win at Fordham on Thursday night. The Hoyas had a 55-21 lead at halftime marking the highest scoring half in head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy's four seasons at the helm.

The 5-1 start for the Hoyas is the best under Coach Flournoy.

Senior forward Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) had a season-high 25 points following a 19-point first half. Classmate Kristin Heidloff (Chicago, Ill./Fenwick) tallied 14 points after matching season-highs of 11 points and three three-pointers in the first half alone. Heidloff equaled a career-high with four three-pointers.

Meredith Cox (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) dropped in a season-high 12 points while freshmen Karee Houlette (Houston, Texas/Panola J.C.) and Monica McNutt (Suitland, Md./Acad. of the Holy Cross) both notched career-highs with 11 and seven points, respectively.

Sophomore Shanice Fuller (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River) finished one assist shy of a career-high with nine helpers.

"We had a great night shooting the ball," said Williams-Flournoy. "We executed pretty well and when we did we scored. Meredith (Cox) and Karee (Houlette) played great games."

Georgetown shot 67 percent in the first half (21-31), including 7-9 from three-point land. The Blue and Gray finished the game shooting 60 percent from the floor.

GU forced two early Ram turnovers and turned the miscues into five quick points. The Hoyas continued to apply pressure and executed flawlessly on the offensive end.

Two Marlow free throws gave Georgetown a 26-3 lead with 12:34 remaining in the first half.

Georgetown turned 16 Fordham turnovers into 25 points with six minutes still to play in the opening period.

The Blue and Gray started 12-14 from the floor (86%), including 5-6 from long range as the Hoya lead grew to 44-14 with 3:55 to go in the period.

The Hoyas tallied 40 points in the paint.

Fordham (0-9) received 13 points from Raina Spencer with Megan Mahoney adding 12.

The Hoyas return to the floor on Sunday, December 9 when the Blue and Gray takes on the Penn State Nittany Lions in a 3 p.m. tip-off.
