Baseball's 2007 Povich Opener, Doubleheader with Pennsylvania, Cancelled

March 17, 2007

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown baseball's doubleheader against Pennsylvania, scheduled for today, Saturday, March 17 has been cancelled due to poor field conditions. The first pitch was scheduled for noon.

The baseball team will try and get Sunday's doubleheader with Pennsylvania in as scheduled. However, despite still being on for tomorrow, March 18, the games are tentative due to this recent batch of wintry weather.

This is the third time this season, the Georgetown baseball team has had its 2007 Shirley Povich opener delayed due to bad weather. The Hoyas were to have opened the season at Povich against George Washington back on February 13, but the D.C. area was pelted with a snowstorm. That game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 27, at 3 p.m.

11 days later, the Hoyas had their next set of home games against St. Joseph's moved to Christopher Newport in Newport News, Va. This was because of rain and snow earlier in the week that had affected Povich's field conditions.
