Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University softball team lost a doubleheader to Maryland today at Robert E. Taylor Stadium in College Park, Md. The first game went to the Terrapins, 8-0, in five innings and the Hoyas lost the second game, 14-0 in five innings.
In the second game, the Blue and Gray (8-31) was able to put four hits on the board with junior Katharine Lang (Princeton Jct., N.J./The Lawrenceville School) leading the way with a pair of singles. Lang also recorded one stolen base.
Freshman Suria Bahadue (Miami, Fla./Monsignor Edward Pace) went 1-for-2 with a double to left field while junior Christina Gallinari (Crestwood, N.Y./The Loyola School) went 1-for-2 with a double to left center.
Freshman Sarah Kamenski (Mountain View, Calif./St. Francis) started the game and pitched two innings and allowed 10 runs on eight hits. Freshman Jennifer Connell (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) pitched two innings and allowed four runs on six hits.
The first game saw Stacey Jennings pitch a one-hitter in five innings of work for the Terrapins (24-15). Freshman Demetria Cipriano (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Springs Charter) recorded the lone hit for the Hoyas with a single through the left side.
Connell pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed eight runs on 10 hits.
The Hoyas return to action on Saturday, April 14 when they travel to Farmville, Va. for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Longwood.
