Hoya Headliner with Field Hockey's Kristin Twomey

Sept. 19, 2007

Washington, D.C. - Defender Kristin Twomey (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) is a senior on the Georgetown field hockey team. The team comes off a 1-0 shutout over Brown on Sunday and will travel to Lewisburg, Pa. for a non-conference match at Bucknell. As the Hoyas gear up for their last road match before a home BIG EAST Conference contest on Friday, September 28 against Syracuse, Twomey took a few minutes to catch up with the Hoya Headliner...

HH: What do your parents think of their daughter playing collegiate field hockey?
KT: My parents love it. My mom has made it her goal to make it to every single one of my games my senior year. I really love it, I like their support.

HH: Who do you look to for advice?
KT: My dad. He is much more level-headed than I am. He has a lot of experience in competitive sports and I really value his opinion.

HH: If you could be on any reality TV show, what would it be and why?
KT: I'm obsessed with Top Chef. I love food but I cannot cook. It's more of a dream to be on that show than a reality.

HH: At what age did you start playing sports?
KT: I have an older brother who is really close in age and I basically made it my life's mission to do everything he did so I pretty much started at a young age.

HH: What is your favorite holiday?
KT: My favorite holiday is definitely Christmas. The food is awesome, the presents are good and I love seeing my family.

HH: Who on the team do you rely on the most?
KT: Deirdre [McShea] and [Lauren] Sheets. We're all pretty different so when you put us together you have a pretty good outlook. And they're my roommates so I really can't get away.

HH: What's your biggest pet peeve?
KT: I hate odd numbers. My jersey number is the only odd number in my life.

HH: What is the strangest fact about you?
KT: I can only eat cheese that is melted. People eating a slice of cheese grosses me out to no end.

HH: What is your favorite movie?
KT: The Rock. It gets me really pumped up.

HH: What has been your greatest moment in your career thus far?
KT: The Bucknell game last season. It was one of my first shots back on defense and we held them to no shots in the second half. We won the game after coming back.

HH: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
KT: I would go to Fiji. The beach...I could get rid of my shin-guard tan and learn to surf.

HH: Freshman dorm?
KT: Harbin

HH: Favorite Georgetown restaurant?
KT: Peacock Café.

HH: Who in your life inspires you the most?
KT: Taylor Price. He's been my best friend since age four and we've been through a lot together. He has overcome things that I never thought possible.

HH: If you could you trade lives with anyone right now, who would it be?
KT: Kate Bosworth in Blue Crush. But only in Blue Crush, otherwise she's too skinny.

HH: Who is your biggest rival?
KT: Rutgers. I haven't fully gotten over our overtime loss last year and I'm really excited to play them on Senior Day.

HH: Do you have a pregame ritual?
KT: I listen to my iPod and try to get focused and forget about anything else that's going on that day.

HH: What is one word people use to describe you?
KT: Rambunctious

HH: Favorite quote from coach?
KT: Believe in yourselves as much as we believe in you.
