Washington, D.C. - Junior midfielder Katie Lachman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) continues to rack up rack up points for the Hoyas, but the Georgetown field hockey cannot seem to catch a break, losing its third game in overtime this season, 3-2 in Lewisburg, Pa. The Hoyas drop to 2-7 on the season as the Bison improve to 6-3.
"The girls definitely deserve a ton of praise after this game," Head Coach Tiffany Marsh said. "They completely rose their level of play. I haven't seen them play this well all season and it's really encouraging to have such a good game as we enter the heart of the BIG EAST portion of the schedule. Even though the outcome wasn't what we wanted, we are in a very good place going into these next few weeks."
In the eleventh minute of overtime, Bucknell's Kelly Hoffman tallied her sixth goal of the year and the game-winner as she tapped in a hard shot off the stick of teammate Chyncia Smith.
With Georgetown trailing 2-1, junior Maggie Farrand (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) broke away from the pack and tapped in the equalizer at 56:06. It was Farrand's lone shot of the game.
The Bison were down 1-0 after the first frame but two goals within nine minutes gave Bucknell the 2-1 edge.
Lachman was the first on board as she scored an unassisted goal after another GU shot was deflected by a Bucknell defender.
Junior goalkeeper Deidre Crovo (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) put up five saves and allowed three goals in 81:07.
The Hoyas return to action on Friday, September 28 when they welcome BIG EAST Conference opponent Syracuse for a 5 p.m. game to the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md.
