Hoyas Softball Falls 14-1 to Jacksonville State

Statesboro, Ga. - Statesboro, Ga. - The Georgetown University softball team (1-6) fell, 14-1 to Jacksonville State on Saturday morning as the Gamecocks produced 14 runs on 14 hits at the Georgia Southern Invitational.

Freshman Kristi Preuss (LaPlata, Md./LaPlata) and senior Brittany Sonnichsen (Madison, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) each had two hits for the Hoyas in the loss.

The Gamecocks got off to a quick start, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by Allie Barker's two-run home run. The early lead was too much for the Hoyas to overcome.

Preuss drove in Georgetown's lone run in the top of the fifth inning with a single to left that scored Sonnichsen.

Sophomore Jennifer Connell (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) took the loss, allowing eight runs, seven earned on eight hits over 2.0 innings.
