Georgetown's Baird and Lambe Selected to Play in Annual USILA North/South Senior All-Star Game

May 23, 2008

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown senior men's lacrosse players Andrew Baird (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Jerry Lambe (North Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale) will play in the 67th Annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's North/South All-Star Game on Friday, May 23.

Baird and Lambe will play as part of the combined Division I-Ii South team coached by Sonny Ziegler, the head coach at Wingate University.

Georgetown finished the 2008 season with a 9-4 overall record, the 12th-straight season the Hoyas finished the year with at least nine wins. The Hoyas were ranked among the top-15 teams in the country all season and posted an 11-7 win over then previously unbeaten and No. 1 Duke during the regular season.

Baird finished second on the team in scoring with 25 goals and eight assists for 33 points. His 25 goals were a career-high and he leaves the Hilltop ranked 15th all-time with 68 career goals. Baird had 68 goals and 23 assists for 91 career points.

Lambe, meanwhile, anchored a defensive unit that has been among the toughest units in the country over the last four years. The senior, who was named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight year, had 12 ground balls and seven caused turnovers this season. A captain, Lambe was a semifinalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy, recognizing the top player in Division I lacrosse.

The North/South All-Star game will be held at Harvard Stadium as part of a lacrosse tripleheader, preceded by the Division III senior all-star game at 2 p.m. and Major League Lacrosse's Boston Cannons vs. the Rochester Rattlers at 7 p.m.

Georgetown has now had 32 players selected to play in the North/South All-Star game, including at least one player in every year since 1994.
