WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University rising junior men's lacrosse player Craig Dowd (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) has been named the Verizon Wireless Showcase Athlete of the Week for the week of July 28.

Dowd is coming off an impressive summer, where he served as the team captain for the 2008 gold medal-winning U.S. U-19 team at the World Championships. Dowd helped lead the team with three goals in a 19-12 victory in the gold medal game on July 12, earning Most Outstanding Attackman honors and a spot on the All-World Team.

In 2008, Dowd was the Hoyas second leading scorer, compiling 14 goals and 23 assists.
