WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's lacrosse standout
Rory Connor was named a Tewaaraton Award Nominee, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Saturday. Connor is now one of the top-25 men's players in the nation in the running for the highest award in college lacrosse.
The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are composed of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation. Five men's and five women's finalists will be selected from these groups, to be announced May 7 at the conclusion of the regular season.
In his first year with the Hoyas, Connor has scored 44 goals to go with 11 assists for 55 points in 11 games this season. He has scored multiple goals in every game in 2026, including at least a hat trick in nine of them. Connor tied his own career high with seven goals twice – against Penn and Marquette – while also scoring six goals against Richmond. He currently ranks second in the NCAA in goals per game with 4.40 gpg.
Prior to his time on the Hilltop, Connor was an All-American attackman at Colgate and led the Raiders to win the 2025 Patriot League Championship. He scored 194 points (113 goals, 81 assists) at Colgate in just 47 games. Along with his 55 points at Georgetown this season, he has the third most points (249) of all active Division I players.
Along with his Tewaaraton Award Nominee status, Connor has also been named to the USILA National Team of the Week twice, been named the USA Lacrosse Magazine Player of the Week once and been selected as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week three times.
This is the 20th time a Hoya has earned Tewaaraton Award Nominee recognition, with Graham Bundy Jr. being the most recent in 2024. Six Georgetown players have gone on to become Tewaaraton Award Finalists – Steve Dusseau (2001 & 2022), Brodie Merrill (2004 & 2005), Jake Carraway (2021) and Tucker Dordevic (2023).
