Georgetown Softball Welcomes Six Newcomers to 2009 Roster

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University head softball coach Pat Conlan has announced her incoming recruiting class, including five players for the class of 2012 and one transfer student, who will all begin competition for the 2009 softball team.

The Hoyas will debut in the BIG EAST in the program's fourth season of play. Conlan, the only head coach in program history, brings in her third recruiting class, including: RHP/1B Mackensey Carter (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo), 1B/OF Cara Savarese (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset), IF/OF Regan Page (Norcross, Ga./Greater Atlanta Christian), RHP Ryan Crowe (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente), IF/OF Kelsie Hanson (Katy, Texas/Katy), C/OF Emily Rotolo (Sea Girt, N.J./The Ranney School).

Carter, a Merriam, Kan. native, was a three-year letterwinner for the Mission Viejo High School softball team in Mission Viejo, Calif. She earned Mission Viejo High School Athlete of the Year, going 11-3 with a 0.22 earned run average (ERA) during her senior year. Carter was named league MVP in both her junior and senior years, leading her team to league championships in both seasons.

Savarese, a Syosset, N.Y. native, earned 15 varsity letters during her prep career in softball, basketball and volleyball. A two-year softball team captain, Savarese was selected All-Nassau County for four seasons.

Page, an Evanston, Ill. native, was a four-year letterwinner in softball, serving as team captain during her senior year. Page also earned letters in lacrosse, track, golf and basketball throughout her prep career. During her senior year, Page earned all state and All-Gwinnett County honors.

Crowe, a San Clemente, Calif. native, was a four-year letterwinner in softball, serving as team captain her junior and senior years, while also earning two varsity letters in water polo. During her senior year Crowe earned all league honors after being selected all league second team her junior year. On the mound, Crowe compiled a 1.43 ERA during her senior year.

Rotolo, a Washington, D.C. native, was a four-year softball letterwinner and team captain at The Ranney School. Rotolo earned her team's most valuable player and outstanding offensive player of the year award in 2008.

Hanson, a transfer from University of Akron, played two seasons for the Zips. The Hot Springs, Arkansas native, was a three-year letterwinner at Katy High School in Katy, Texas. She was also a three-year letterwinner in volleyball.

The Hoyas began fall workouts on Saturday, September 6 in anticipation of the 2009 season.
