WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior football player Chudi Obianwu (Southampton, N.J./Bishop Eustace) was named second team All-Patriot League when postseason teams and major awards were announced by the league office in Center Valley, Pa. on Tuesday morning.
Obianwu, a two-year starter on the defensive line, was second on the team with 6.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. He was also sixth on the team with 53 total tackles (30 solo, 23 assists).
The Hoyas played four teams that were ranked among the top-25 teams in the country in the Football Championship Subdivision level this season and Obianwu shined in those games. Against No. 25 Holy Cross, Obianwu had five tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. Obianwu also had five tackles against No. 4 Richmond.
Obianwu completed his four-year career on the Hilltop with 115 tackles, 14.5 tackles-for-loss and 5.5 sacks.
Since joining the Patriot League in 2001, Georgetown has had 12 different players earn 17 conference honors. Obianwu is the 12th player to earn second team honors. In five of the last six seasons, Georgetown has had a defensive end earn all-league honors.
