Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III On the strong play of Jason Clark and Julian Vaughn... "I think the same thing applies to both of them. They're in their second year now and you see the growth and development and comfort level is higher, their teammate's confidence and their confidence in themselves is better and I think that's what you're seeing."
On Julian Vaughn...
"I think Julian was very good in terms of his presence on the court, being on the boards, being on the defensive end. I think he was very effective."
On the game plan against Jeremy Goode...
"Prayer. He's really good, he's terrific. The way Milan has them, they keep coming and Goode is able to get you in transition so fast and he's also able to make shots. There was a shot early in the first right in front of our bench where he had a step behind (the three-point line) and put it in the basket. He does a terrific job, being the scorer that he is, being unselfish and figuring out how to get his teammates involved."
On his team having more fun than last year...
"We're not having fun yet, but we will at some point. I think Jason Clark, Julian Vaughn, Henry Sims, Greg Monroe, Nikita, those are five guys that were out there for the first time last year. Even as much as they're very good players they were out there for the first time. I think a lot of parts of their game is more second nature now, they have more of a feel for what's going on and there is less thinking to a certain extent. Are we having fun? We're not ready to have fun yet, we have a long way to go, but I think at some point this year we're going to have fun."
On one day preparation between Saturday's game and tonight...
"That was by design. I scheduled this game like this on purpose so they can fall into the routine of what they're going to see down the road, so that was by design."
Junior Guard Chris Wright
On guarding Goode...
"Well one thing, he's very quick, he's very fast. It's kind of hard to keep him out of the lane because he's so fast and so quick but I think that's just the biggest thing to overcome with him. He's very quick and knows how to use his angles and stuff to get passes through."
Junior Forward Julian Vaughn
On his comfort level...
"I think it's just being more comfortable in the system and with what Coach wants to do. Just being a year older I guess I see things a little better. Just relaxing and playing my game, that's it."
On last year versus this year...
"[Last year] I put pressure on myself but this year I definitely learned to relax. I worked really hard this summer and I think I'm just trying to make sure it pays off by relaxing and playing hard."
Mount St. Mary's Head Coach Milan Brown
On the game...
"We played a very good team today. Their size was able to bother us sometimes on the open looks that we had inside and they were still able to contest some of the shots that we had from the perimeter."
On Georgetown...
"We understood that it was going to be a tough task ahead anytime you are playing a team in the top 20. You have to do a lot of things right."
On the game...
"I thought we fought the entire game which I didn't think would change for us. But sometimes you can fight and it can be tough and all of a sudden someone's bigger and a little bit more athletic and just can make a play just because of those two reasons."
"We hurt ourselves with some of the turnovers we had. We needed turnovers that went out of bounds."
"We need to keep them in front of us for 40 minutes and we were not able to do it."
