GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Georgetown University softball team (2-13) fell victim to a perfect game from East Carolina's Toni Paisley, as they fell to the host Pirates, 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the Pirate Clash in Greensboro, N.C.
Jennifer Connell (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) took the loss allowing four runs, just one earned, on three hits over 3.0 innings. Melissa Conners (Wellington, Fla./Wellington) gave up five runs, four earned over 3.0 innings.
The Pirates broke a scoreless tie when Sarah Bibee singled to centerfield to drive in Angel Barrella in the top of the second inning. They would add three more runs in the top of the third inning, two resulting after a fieding error.
Leading 5-0, Jessica Johnson hit a three-run home run, followed by Marina Gusman-Brown's solo shot over the left field wall to put ECU up 9-0. The Hoyas were retired in order in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Pirates a 6-0 victory.
Georgetown returns to action on Wednesday at 10 a.m. when they face Toledo. They will also have another rematch with East Carolina at 2 p.m.
