Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University women's lacrosse had two players named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll this week after improving to 2-0 in conference play. Jacqueline Giles (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) and Jordan Trautman (Mystic, Conn./Loomis Chaffe School) both earned the honor after leading the Hoyas on the offensive and defensive ends of the field. No. 8/6 Georgetown is currently 7-3 overall and 2-0 in conference.
Giles had five goals this past week including three in the win over No. 10/9 Notre Dame on Friday evening. The attacker also had one ground ball and one draw control for an all-around game where the Hoyas came back from a halftime deficit to get the 14-12 victory.
Against Rutgers on Sunday, Giles had two goals and a draw control as GU cruised to the 9-5 win. The sophomore is ranked fourth on the squad in points with 17 on the season.
Trautman was a big part of the defense that stopped Notre Dame in the second half. The senior defender had four ground balls and three caused turnovers in the game. On offense, she posted two draw controls and an assist. Against Rutgers she notched two ground balls and a turnover to help GU to the victory.
The Mystic, Conn., native leads the squad in caused turnovers with 16 so far this year.
Georgetown will host No. 7/8 Syracuse on Friday evening at 6 p.m. The game will be the first ever played under the lights at Multi-Sport Field. Live stats and a webcast will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
