No. 22/23 Georgetown Hosts Xavier in BIG EAST Matchup

WASHINGTON – The No. 22/23 Georgetown women's lacrosse team (8-3, 2-0 BIG EAST) returns to the Hilltop tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, April 4, to host the Xavier University Musketeers (3-10, 1-2 BIG EAST) at Cooper Field. Opening draw is scheduled for noon.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
Georgetown enters tomorrow's conference clash riding the momentum of a three-game winning streak, most recently securing a dominant 17-8 road victory over Drexel on Wednesday. The Hoyas utilized a balanced offensive explosion to move to a perfect 6-0 on the road this season and maintain their perfect record in BIG EAST play.

The Blue & Gray defense continues to be a powerhouse unit, holding opponents to an average of 8.04 goals per game. Graduate goalkeeper Leah Warehime remains a steady presence in the cage, coming off a full 60-minute performance against the Dragons where she recorded 10 saves. Warehime currently leads the BIG EAST in save percentage, anchoring a defensive unit that has limited opponents to single digits in eight contests this year.

Senior Gracie Driggs continues her standout campaign after being named to the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List. Driggs led the Blue & Gray in Philadelphia with a game-high seven points (5G, 2A) and leads the squad with 32 goals through 11 games.

Junior Annie McGovern remains the focal point for the Hoya offense, pacing the team with 45 total points. Her 27 goals and 18 assists have provided a consistent spark, helping the Hoyas maintain one of the most efficient scoring margins in the BIG EAST. McGovern is coming off a high-level playmaking game against Drexel where she tallied five points.

The Hoya attack also features significant depth and breakout talent. Sophomore Sophia Loschert has emerged as a premier threat, ranking third on the team with 25 goals, while junior Lauren Steer is second on the team with 17 assists. Additionally, Reagan Ziegler has provided a reliable scoring punch with back-to-back hat tricks, and Molly Davies continues to provide critical depth with 22 points (13G, 9A) on the season.

ABOUT THE MUSKETEERS
Xavier defeated Butler 14-9 at Corcoran Field on Wednesday, April 1. Samantha Balara leads the Musketeers with 22 goals on the season. In net, Jada Brandon leads the team with 98 saves for a .462 save percentage.

ABOUT THE MATCHUP
Saturday marks the fourth meeting between Georgetown and Xavier since 2023. The Hoyas hold a 3-0 advantage in this span, most recently securing a high-scoring 22-11 victory in Cincinnati last season.
