Georgetown Men's Crew Finishes Competition at George Washington Invitational

WASHINGTON, D.C. - WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's crew finished competition at the George Washington Invitational on the Potomac River on Saturday afternoon. The Hoyas earned a victory in the first lightweight freshman eight, while turning in strong performances throughout the morning and afternoon sessions.

In the freshman lightweight eight race Georgetown defeated Navy and Delaware in a time of 5:57.8 for the men's crew's lone victory on Saturday. In the morning the Georgetown lightweight first varsity eight finished in second place, one-second behind Navy and in front of Delaware in a time of 5:46.6. The men's lightweight second varsity eight also recorded a second place finish in a time of 5:51.2.

The Hoyas varsity eight finished behind Navy in a time of 5:42.9 during the morning session and behind Cornell in a time of 5:43.1. Georgetown's men's second varsity eight placed second behind the Naval Academy's second varsity eight and in front of their third varsity eight in 5:49.3 in the morning and behind the Big Red in 5:48.0.

Georgetown's freshmen boats recorded some of their fastest times of the young season, as the freshman eight finished behind Navy in 5:58.5 in the morning and behind Cornell in 5:52.6 to improve their time. The second freshman eight finished behind GW and Navy in 6:22.2 in the morning and in the same order in the afternoon in 6:19.3, again recording a faster time in the afternoon session.
