Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad will travel to Louisville, Ky., this weekend for a Saturday afternoon matchup with the University of Louisville Cardinals (7-4, 1-3 BIG EAST). The No. 7/6 Hoyas are currently 9-3 on the season and 4-0 in conference play after defeating rival-Syracuse last weekend. The game marks the first BIG EAST contest against Louisville who is new to the league this year.
Georgetown is riding a four-game win streak, with its last loss coming on March 21 at No. 4 North Carolina. The Hoyas defeated Syracuse last weekend for the first time since 2007 in an exciting, 11-10, four-overtime victory.
For her efforts against the Orange and Connecticut on Sunday, junior Ashby Kaestner (Trappe, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week. GU is also led by junior Molly Ford (Reisterstown, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and sophomore Jordy Kirr (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr Academy) who have 44 and 39 points on the season, respectively.
Louisville is 7-4 for the season and 1-3 in the BIG EAST after picking up the program's first conference win on April 3 against Rutgers. The Cardinals are led by sophomores Bergan Foley and Emily Dashiell who have both scored at least 30 points this season.
Georgetown is 1-0 all-time against the Cardinals with the lone meeting coming last year. In that game in Washington, D.C., GU won, 13-5, paced by four goals from Kaestner. Last season Louisville was independent and went 12-4 on the year.
The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m., at the U of L Lacrosse Stadium.
