WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University field hockey team (0-6) will host Robert Morris University (0-3) at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 20 at the William I Jacobs Recreational Complex on the campus of American University. It is the third home match the Hoyas will play this season.
The Hoyas enter the match after dropping a pair of matches to Patriot League opponents Lehigh and Lafayette. GU fell, 3-2 to Lehigh on Saturday, with junior Micaela O'Toole (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) and freshman Katy Wingo (Great Falls, Va./Langley) each scored goals. The goal was the first of Wingo's collegiate career.
Kristen Volpe (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) leads the Hoyas in points with seven (3 goals, 1 assist). All three of Volpe's goals came against Lock Haven in their 4-3 loss on August 29. Volpe earned a spot on the BIG EAST Conference honor roll on Monday, August 31.
Clodagh Coghlan (Pennington, N.J./Stuart Country Day) has started five of the Hoyas six games in goal. The freshman holds a 2.36 goals against average and has stopped 22 shots in the cage.
The Colonials also enter the weekend winless, falling to Missouri State, St. Louis and Bellarmine. Sam Hayden and Jessica Charles have the Colonials lone goals on the season. Stephanie Seeley holds a 4.57 goals against average and has stopped 22 shots in goal this season.
Like the Hoyas, Robert Morris features a young roster with five freshman and seven sophomores.
