Georgetown Softball Welcomes Fives Newcomers to 2010 Roster

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University head softball coach Pat Conlan has announced her incoming recruiting class, including five players for the class of 2013 who will begin competition for the 2010 softball season.

The Hoyas begin their second season of BIG EAST play in the program's fifth season on the Hilltop. Conlan, the only head coach in program history, brings in her fourth recruiting class, including: OF Kelly Cianciotta (Summit, N.J./Scotch Plains Fanwood), OF Danielle Cyr (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), OF Callie Eward (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton), C/3B Jorden Hansen (Omaha, Neb./Millard West), and C/OF Shikara Lowe (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit).

Cianciotta, a Summit, N.J. native, earned three varsity letters in softball and cheerleading, while also earning a letter in gymnastics. She was the captain of the softball team and cheerleading squad during her senior year. Cianciotta earned first team all county, conference and region in 2007 and a three-year team most valuable player. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Cyr, from Doylestown, Pa., earned four varsity letters in softball, two in swimming and one in tennis. She served as the captain of the CB West softball team during her senior year. Cyr was named first team all league Suburban 1 PIAA (AAAA) during her junior and senior years, first team all Intelligencer after batting .425 and leading her team in RBI's and slugging percentage. She was a third team all league selection during her sophomore year.

Eward, a Fairfax, Va. native, earned four varsity letters in softball where she served as a team captain in 2009. Eward was a three-time first team all district selection and a two-time Washington Post All-Extra selection. During her senior season, Eward batted .560 with a .668 on-base percentage.

Hansen, an Omaha, Neb. native, earned four letters in softball and three letters in track and served as the softball captain her senior year. Hansen was named the Greater Omaha Sports Committee Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Most Inspirational Player in 2008. She was a two-time all state honorable mention. Hansen was the valedictorian of her class and a member of the National Honor Society.

Lowe, a Beaverton, Ore. native, earned four varsity letters in track and two in basketball serving as team captain on both teams during her senior year. Lowe was a two-time first team all state selection and three-time first team all league selection in softball, helping her team to state championship in 2006 and two league championships in 2008 and 2009. Lowe is a member of the National Honor Society.

The Hoyas begin fall workouts on September 8, 2009 in anticipation of the 2010 season.
