WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad has announced its 2010 television schedule which will include six appearances locally on Verizon FiOS and one on CBS College Sports. Last season, the Hoyas won the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship and advanced to the tournament final game. Georgetown received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, its 11th in the past 12 seasons.
After four-consecutive non-conference matchups against some of the top teams in the nation, Georgetown will return home on March 20 to play North Carolina. The Tar Heels were the 2009 national runners-up falling to Northwestern, 21-7, in the NCAA Championship. That will be the first of six home games televised on Verizon FiOS.
The Hoyas final five home contests will be on FiOS including Princeton, Notre Dame, Connecticut, Rutgers and Loyola (Md.). The Blue & Gray fell to the Tigers in the NCAA Tournament last season and split with the Fighting Irish, winning in South Bend but coming up short in the BIG EAST Championship. Both games promise to be exciting matchups.
Additionally, Georgetown's regular-season finale at Syracuse on May 1 will be broadcast on CBS College Sports.
For the first time in conference history, CBS College Sports will televise both BIG EAST Semifinal games on May 6 as well as broadcasting the championship game on May 8 for the fourth-consecutive year. This season's BIG EAST Tournament will be hosted by Rutgers University and held in Piscataway, N.J.
Georgetown will open its season on February 24 as the Hoyas host Johns Hopkins at Multi-Sport Field. The opening draw is set for 3:45 p.m.
