Final Stats
FRESNO, Calif. - The Georgetown University softball team (6-11) could not manage any offense against tournament host Fresno State (14-8) on Saturday evening, as Mackenzie Oakes tossed a perfect game against the Hoyas to earn a 3-0 victory on the Bulldog Diamond at the Bayer Cropscience Classic.
Jennifer Connell (Roswell, Ga./Roswell) took the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits over 60 innings, while striking out four. Oakes earned the win, striking out five in 7.0 perfect innings.
In the third inning, Andrea Ortega singled to centerfield to drive in Jody Badorine, giving the Bulldogs all the scoring they would need. The Bulldogs would add two more in the fifth inning to take a 3-0 lead, the eventual final score.
The Hoyas return to action on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when they take on Colorado State.
