WASHINGTON - The No. 15 Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad continued its winning ways on Monday with an 18-9 victory over the University of Connecticut Huskies at Multi-Sport Field. "It's nice to get our first back-to-back wins of the season," said Head Coach Ricky Fried. "We did well on draw controls and improved on the ride by pressuring in transition. We need to use this momentum to continue through the BIG EAST schedule and we need to work to improve execution in all aspects of the game."
UConn scored first, but Georgetown answered with a 7-0 run including two goals from both Jacqueline Giles (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) and Molly Ford (Reisterstown, Md./Notre Dame Prep).
At 16:06, the Huskies made it 7-3 on two quick goals in transition, however, that would be the end of UConn;s scoring for the half. GU closed out the first with five-straight goals including one more from Giles as well as Jordy Kirr (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr School) and Mary Beth Brophy's (Berwyn, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) second goals of the afternoon.
