WASHINGTON - Georgetown University field hockey head coach Tiffany Marsh has announced her team's 19-match schedule for the 2010 season, including 11 home games to be played at the William I. Jacobs Recreational Complex at American University in Washington, D.C.
The Blue & Gray will play its first five games at home during the 2010 season, opening with Bryant University on August 28 before taking on Saint Francis (Pa.) (Aug. 29), LaSalle (Sept. 4), Temple (Sept. 5) and Lehigh (Sept. 11).
The Hoyas will host BIG EAST opponents Rutgers (Oct. 1), Syracuse (Oct. 16) and Providence (Oct. 30) at home. GU recorded the program's first BIG EAST Conference win last season by defeating the Scarlet Knights, 3-2. Rising senior captain Annika Bannon (Hopkinton, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) had two assists in the victory. GU's match with Providence on October 30 will be Senior Day for Bannon, the Hoyas lone senior in the 2010 season.
Georgetown will play the remainder of its conference schedule on the road, traveling to Louisville for its conference-opener on September 17. The Hoyas also travel to Connecticut (Oct. 9) and Villanova (Oct. 22).
The Hoyas will play five non-conference road games in 2010 with its first in Louisville, Ky., where they will take on Radford. The Hoyas defeated the Highlanders, 3-2 in overtime to conclude the 2009 season. Georgetown will also travel south through North Carolina to play Appalachian State (Sept. 25) and Davidson (Sept. 26). They travel to Fairfield (Oct. 10) before concluding its non-conference road schedule in Easton, Pa. when they take on Lafayette on October 24.
