Women's Basketball Signs Three to Letters of Intent

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team signed three players to National Letters of Intent rounding out the recruiting Class of 2011. The group in made up of a local product and a pair of standouts. Georgetown's class was ranked 27th in the nation by ESPN's Hoopgurlz.com.

Taylor Brown is from Bowie, Md., and attends Bishop McNamara High School. Brown is a 5-7 point guard who also plays varsity soccer. She is the 17th-ranked guard in her class according to Hoopgurlz.com as well as the 67th-ranked player. As a junior, she earned First Team All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) honors and a spot on the Washington Post's All-Met First Team.

The three-time team MVP plays AAU with the Boo Williams Elite Team and she helped lead her high school squad to three-consecutive WCAC semifinals. She scored her 1,000th-career point earlier this season. Brown is a well rounded student-athlete that is a member of the National Honor Society.

Brittany Horne comes to the Hilltop from Carmel, N.Y., where she attends Carmel High School. The 6-1 forward is a two-time team MVP as well as a two-time all-league honoree.

As a junior, Horne was named all-section as well as all-state. She has led her high school squad to three-consecutive league championships. Horne plays with the New York Gauchos AAU squad and is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Jasmine Jackson is out of Old Bridge, N.J., and goes to Old Bridge High School where she plays basketball and runs track. She is ranked No. 21 at her position according to Hoopgurlz.com. Jackson is a McDonald's All-American nominee who was an all-state honoree and named First Team All-Middlesex Area and First Team All-Group 4.

Jackson hit the 1,000-point milestone as a junior and also holds school records in the high jump and the 200 meters on the track. Jackson plays AAU with All New Jersey Elite. She is a member of the honor roll and the German Honor Society.

The Hoyas will lose just one senior, Monica McNutt (Suitland, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) for the 2011-12 season. No. 15/14 Georgetown will host Marquette on January 8 at McDonough Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
