Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III
On Chris Wright's Hand...
He has a broken hand. As for the preliminary report, exactly what bone is broken, I'm not sure, but it's definitely a broken hand.
On how the backcourt played in Wright's absence...
I think we have to give Cincinnati's defensive intensity credit. In general and definitely in the first half we were careless with the ball. I thought there were stretches where our defense was ok. Some possessions it felt like they were getting down to the last five or six seconds before they were getting a shot somewhere. A lot of their points were off of our turnovers.
On Georgetown's shot opportunities...
It definitely snowballed from there. I think, I gotta go back and remember, I think there was one of those situations when they were open and it didn't go in. That was one of those situations where, and you've heard me say before, so now we have got to take four three's in a row. We tried to get the ball inside. We got the ball to Julian right under the rim for shots he's been making all year and he missed a lot of those today. So it was a lot of things at one time that went wrong.
On Chris Wright's injury and what it means for the rest of the season...
I think we have to see how he feels. I don't know what it means.
On Cincinnati mixing zone and man-to-man defense...
We thought we would see a little bit of zone, but they played almost extensively zone, especially in the second half. So we were prepared for it, but did we expect it? No, because traditionally they are a man-to-man team most of the time.
On losing intensity without Chris Wright...
I think we were out of sync. I don't know that our intensity was down. I just thought we were out of sync, I thought we went through a phase where we started feeling sorry for ourselves, which we don't need to do. We were just not in sync today.
Georgetown Senior Guard Austin Freeman
On what went wrong in the game...
They played hard, plain and simple. They came out playing really hard in the second half and we came out flat.
On Cincinnati's defense disrupting Georgetown's offense...
That's us. We were careless with the ball. It was pretty much our fault.
On how the backcourt played without Chris Wright...
We could have been better.
On Chris Wright's injury...
At first, I thought he was going to be able to play. But then when I saw he wasn't able to do anything and then when he asked to come out I knew something was wrong.
