WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's lacrosse senior attacker Jordy Kirr (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr Academy) was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after pair of big performances. Additionally, sophomore Sophia Thomas (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Prep) earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Kirr's award marks the first player of the week honor for the Hoyas so far this season. Thomas is the third Hoya to earn a spot on the honor roll.
Kirr had four goals and five assists on the week for nine total points. She had four assists in the 19-12 win over Louisville where she also made history. The senior broke the program record for career assists and also tallied her 100th assist making her the first player in Georgetown history to have 100 goals and 100 assists in their career. This is Kirr's first BIG EAST weekly award.
Thomas had ten points on the week tallying six goals and four assists. She also had a team-best nine caused turnovers with seven in the Louisville win. Thomas managed eight ground balls including four in the 17-2 Cincinnati victory and four against Louisville. This is her second nod to the honor roll so far this season.
Georgetown will host Syracuse on Saturday at noon at Multi-Sport Field. The game will be televised live on CBS College Sports and live stats will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
