WASHINGTON - The No. 17 Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad made a statement on Sunday defeating the Yale University Bulldogs (2-8), 16-3, at Multi-Sport Field. The Hoyas allowed two early goals, but controlled the pace from that point on to get the 16-3 victory and improve to 4-5 on the season.

"What I was most pleased with today was our ride," said Georgetown Head Coach Ricky Fried. "We did a good job of holding them in their defensive end which caused turnovers giving us second and third chances."

Freshman Hannah Franklin (Phoenix, Md./McDonogh School) started off the scoring for the Blue & Gray with a goal in the first three minutes. Senior captain Jordy Kirr (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr School) made it 2-0 at the 26:16 mark as the Hoyas looked to be rolling.

However, the Bulldogs answered with a pair of scores one minute apart to tie the game at 23:44. That would be as close as the squad would come as GU dominated the remainder of the contest.

Kirr scored her second of the day to take the lead and notch the game winner. Georgetown managed eight more goals before the half to make it 11-2 at the break. Senior Jacqueline Giles (Ellicott City, Md./Moutn Hebron) as well as sophomores Kelsi Bozel (Hunt Valley, Md./Notre Dame Prep), Sophia Thomas (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Prep), Rosie Corcoran (Point Lookout, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) and Dina Jackson (Potomac, Md./Bullis) all had a goal, while Kirr tallied her third of the game and senior Kathleen Dwyer (Winnetka, Ill.Loyola Academy) managed two.

In the second half, the Hoyas continued to add to the lead with four goal, including two by senior captain Mary Beth Brophy (Berwyn, Pa./Archbishop Carroll), Corcoran's second and one more by Bozel to make the score 15-2 at the 12:44 mark.

Yale found the back of the cage one more time before sophomore Evan O'Neill (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands) scored to make the final 16-3.

GU outshot Yale, 37-12 and forced 27 Bulldog turnovers to the Hoyas' 14. Both squads pulled in 11 draw controls and Georgetown posted 26 ground balls.
