WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University field hockey team (2-6) lost to Lock Haven (5-5) 3-1 in Lock Haven, Pa. this afternoon. Caitlin Hickey (Milton, Mass./Milton Academy) scored the goal for the Hoyas. Briana Pereira (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) had six saves.
Georgetown struck first but could not hold the lead. Hickey's goal came in the 14th minute off a scramble in front of Lock Haven's net. This is the first goal of the season for the junior midfielder.
Lock Haven tallied its first goal with thirty seconds remaining in the first half. The other two scores were unanswered by the Hoyas in the second half. Kristi Shepps had two goals for the Eagles.
Georgetown field hockey will play St. Francis (Pa.) tomorrow afternoon, September 25, at 1 p.m. in Loretta, Pa. Next weekend the Hoyas will play their second BIG EAST contest against Rutgers on September 30 in Piscataway, N.J. The team will remain in New Jersey to play Monmouth (N.J.) on October 2.
