No. 14/13 Georgetown Hosts Seton Hall on Wednesday

WASHINGTON - The No. 14/13 Georgetown University women's basketball squad (18-5, 7-3 BIG EAST) will host the Seton Hall University Pirates (7-17, 0-10 BIG EAST) on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., at McDonough Arena. Georgetown downed the University of Cincinnati, 65-54, on Saturday in Ohio.

On Monday, junior guard Sugar Rodgers (Suffolk, Va./King's Fork) earned her fifth nod to the BIG EAST Honor Roll this season. Rodgers had 19 points and seven rebounds to go along with three assists and two steals in a win at Cincinnati. The guard also went 8-of-10 from the line.

Rodgers' award was her fifth nod to the honor roll this season after spending two-consecutive weeks on the BIG EAST Honor Roll in December. She has also earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors on three occasions this season.

On Sunday, Georgetown downed Cincinnati, 65-54, at Fifth Third Arena. The Hoyas forced 24 turnovers with 11 steals and shot 39.1 percent. Senior forward Tia Magee (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks) scored her 1,000th-career point in the win with 18 points and five rebounds as well as four steals.

Rodgers has led the Hoyas in points in 18 of 23 games so far this season with a high of 39 points in the win over Dartmouth University at the Blue Sky Classic. She is averaging 19.8 ppg to lead the BIG EAST, 5.2 rpg to rank third on the team and has a squad-high 58 steals. She also shoots a team-high 82.1 percent from the free throw line.

Magee is second on the squad with 12.2 ppg and a team-best 6.2 rpg. Senior point guard Rubylee Wright (Latta, S.C./Latta) is averaging 7.2 ppg, while freshman guard Taylor Brown (Bowie, Md./Bishop McNamara) is averaging 5.3 ppg to round out the top four. Wright also leads the Georgetown squad with 107 assists.

The Pirates are 7-17 on the year and 0-10 in conference play. In its last game, SHU fell to St. John's, 55-25, at Walsh Gymnasium. Senior guard Jasmine Crew led the way with 14 points, while senior center Tajay Ashmeade had a squad-best 10 rebounds.

Seton Hall has two players averaging in double figures. Crew is leading the squad with 18.0 ppg, while junior guard Brittany Morris is averaging 11.7 ppg, respectively. Ashmeade has a team-best 8.3 rpg.

The Hoyas are 22-30 all-time against the Pirates, but have won the past two meetings. Last season, Georgetown defeated Seton Hall, 59-41, in New Jersey. Adria Crawford (Alexandria, Va./Thomas Edison) led the way with 14 points, while Magee and Rodgers added 13. In the last meeting at McDonough Arena, the Blue & Gray won, 71-49.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., at McDonough Arena.

The game will be broadcast tape delayed on Verizon FiOS1 with Monika Moore and Georgetown alum Monica McNutt on the game.
